Preparing your account for the EU De Minimis changes on 1 July 2026

2 min read

Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung

1

What is changing, and does it affect me?

From 1 July 2026 the EU removes the €150 customs de minimis threshold.

As a result, low-value parcels sent into the EU must carry extra information on the commercial invoice: a Business indicator (whether the sale is to a consumer or a business), and three product identifiers for every line on the invoice. Transmitting this data is voluntary from 1 July 2026 and becomes mandatory from 1 November 2026. We strongly recommend setting it up now so your labels keep printing without interruption.

2

Determine Whether Your Shipments Are Affected

You are affected if you ship parcels that are all of the following:

1 Sent from outside the EU (e.g. US, UK, Switzerland) 2 Delivered to an EU country 3 A sale to a consumer (B2C) — business-to-business shipments are out of scope 4 Declared value €150 or less 5 Not a return

Confirm Applicability

If your shipments never match all five, you don't need to do anything. If some do, follow the steps below once and the data is applied to every future label automatically.

EU countries: AT, BE, BG, HR, CY, CZ, DK, EE, FI, FR, DE, GR, HU, IE, IT, LV, LT, LU, MT, NL, PL, PT, RO, SK, SI, ES, SE.

The fastest way: open the guided setup link

We've built a guided highlight that takes you straight to the field and rings it in red so you can't miss it.

Open your Shipment Defaults with the field highlighted:

4

Step-by-step: set your defaults once

Setting these under Shipment Defaults means every new label is pre-filled for you. You can still override any value on an individual label.

4.1

Open Shipment Defaults

Go to your profile and open the Shipment Defaults tab (or use the guided link above).

4.2

Set the Default business indicator

(required for in-scope EU shipments)

Find Default business indicator and choose: Business-to-Consumer (B2C) — selling to private individuals. This is the option that puts shipments in scope. Business-to-Business (B2B) — selling to companies. Out of scope for de minimis. Pick the one that matches the majority of your EU orders. On each label you can switch it if a particular order is different. When creating a label, if the delivery address has a company name the indicator defaults to B2B; otherwise it defaults to B2C (or to the default you set here).

4.3

Set the global default product identifiers (recommended)

Scroll to the commercial-invoice defaults section. Fill in the three fallback values that will be used when an individual product has none of its own:

These act as a safety net so no invoice line is sent empty.

Set the global default product identifiers (recommended)
4.3.1

Field: Default Merchant Product ID

What to enter: Your own product/SKU code

Max Length: 35 characters

4.3.2

Field: Default Manufacturer Product ID

What to enter: The manufacturer's product code

Max Length: 35 characters

4.3.3

Field: Default Standardized Product ID

What to enter: A standardized code (e.g. a recognised product identifier). If you leave it blank, the system sends the literal value No.

Max Length: 35 characters

4.4

Set per-product identifiers for specific items

If certain products need their own values, use the product mapping rows further up the page:

These per-product values take precedence over the global defaults from Step 3.

4.4.1

Choose how to match the product — by SKU or HS Code.

4.4.2

Enter the Match Value (you can use * wildcards and comma-separated values for SKUs).

4.4.3

Fill the per-product Merchant / Manufacturer / Standardized Product ID for that match.

4.4.4

Tick Apply to Commercial Invoice so the values are written onto the invoice.

4.5

Configure Product-Specific Overrides (Optional)

Create product mappings for items that require custom identifier values.

Product-specific mappings override the global defaults for matching products.

4.5.1

Define Product Matching Criteria

Choose how products should be identified.

Select one of the following matching methods: * SKU * HS Code Enter the corresponding match value. SKU matching supports: * Wildcards (*) * Comma-separated values

4.5.2

Configure Product-Specific Identifiers

Assign identifiers for matching products.

Provide values for: * Merchant Product ID * Manufacturer Product ID * Standardized Product ID These values will be used whenever the matching product is included in a shipment.

4.5.3

Enable Commercial Invoice Application

Ensure mapped values are written to customs documentation.

Enable the Apply to Commercial Invoice option. This allows the configured identifiers to be transmitted on commercial invoices.

4.5.4

Review Override Priority

Understand precedence rules.

Product-specific mappings always take precedence over global default values.

4.6

Save Configuration

Save the Shipment Defaults form. You're done — new labels are now pre-filled.

5

How the values are chosen on each label

For every commercial-invoice line, each identifier is filled using the first available source in this order:

5.1

Merchant Product ID

1. The order item's SKU / identifier 2. Per-product mapping value (Step 4) 3. Global Default Merchant Product ID (Step 3)

5.2

Manufacturer Product ID

1. The order item's own value 2. Per-product mapping value (Step 4) 3. Global Default Manufacturer Product ID (Step 3)

5.3

Standardized Product ID

1. The order item's own value 2. Per-product mapping value (Step 4) 3. Global Default Standardized Product ID (Step 3) 4. Otherwise the literal No

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ section addressing common queries.

7.1

Do I have to complete this setup before 1 July 2026?

No — transmission is voluntary from 1 July and mandatory from 1 November 2026. Setting it up early means nothing breaks when it becomes mandatory.

7.2

What happens if I leave the product identifiers blank?

During the voluntary phase (until 31 October 2026) labels are still created. From 1 November 2026 the product identifiers become required on in-scope labels and you'll see a validation error if they're empty.

7.3

My shipments are business-to-business only. Do I need to do anything?

Set the Default business indicator to B2B. B2B shipments are out of scope and won't require de minimis data.

7.4

Can I override the defaults for a single order?

Yes. Every value can be changed on the individual label creation screen before you print.
