How to get the StoreID for a Shipstation Store/Channel
Step-by-Step Guide
Guide to Obtaining ShipStation StoreID
This guide provides detailed instructions on how to create a store in ShipStation and obtain its StoreID. It is intended for users who need to integrate their store with ShipStation and require the StoreID for configuration.
Create the Store in ShipStation
Log in to ShipStation and navigate to the Store Setup section to create a new store. This is the first step in obtaining a StoreID, necessary for integrating your store with ShipStation.
After logging into ShipStation, go to Account Settings, then Selling Channels, and select Store Setup. Click on 'Connect a Store or Marketplace' and search for 'ShipStation'. Select the ShipStation tile, enter the store details, and click 'Connect'. For custom integrations, choose 'Custom Store', enter the required connection details, and test the connection.
Select Store Type
Choose between a manual ShipStation store or a custom store.
For a standard setup, select the ShipStation tile. For custom integrations, select 'Custom Store' and provide the necessary connection details.
Name the Store Clearly
Assign a clear and unique name to your store during creation. This is crucial for support to easily identify your store and provide the StoreID.
A distinctive store name helps avoid confusion, especially if multiple stores exist under your account. ShipStation support relies on this name to quickly locate your store and retrieve its StoreID.
Confirm the Store is Connected
Complete the store setup and save the configuration. Note that manual stores may not show a confirmed connection in ShipStation.
After setting up the store, save your configuration. Manual stores might display a red flag indicating an unconfirmed connection; this is expected behavior and does not affect the ability to obtain a StoreID.
Contact ShipStation Support for StoreID
Reach out to ShipStation support to request your StoreID. This step is necessary as the StoreID is not directly accessible through the user interface.
Once your store is created, contact ShipStation support and provide them with the exact store name to request the StoreID. According to ShipStation's FAQ, this is one of the two ways to obtain a StoreID, the other being a developer making a List Stores API call.
Use Chat or Support Form
Utilize ShipStation's support channels to submit your request. Choose between live chat or submitting a ticket via the support form.
For live chat, use the 'Ask ShipStation' button and type 'talk to agent' to connect with a human agent. Alternatively, submit a request through the online support form. Include all relevant details to expedite the resolution process.
Support as the Only Practical Option
Understand why contacting support might be the only viable option for obtaining the StoreID for some users.
ShipStation's Store ID FAQ outlines two methods to obtain a StoreID: contacting support or using the List Stores API. Users without access to legacy API credentials cannot use the developer route, making support the only documented method available.
Suggested Wording for Support Request
Craft a clear and concise message when contacting ShipStation support to request the StoreID.
Use the following template: 'Hello ShipStation Support, We created a new store in ShipStation and need its StoreID so we can send orders into the correct store from our integration. Store name: [exact store name]. Please provide the StoreID associated with this store. Thank you.' This ensures you provide all necessary information for a swift response.
